About
John Schutt grew up in California, and has spent much of his life in and around architecture and building. He and his architect father built models, furniture, toy planes, battleships and small scale houses as a hobby in their garage, and later connected on architecture as a passion. He attended University of California at Berkeley, where he received a degree in history. As time passed while living in Los Angeles, he was continually frustrated by the amount of time he had to spend in his car, and rediscovered architecture through the eyes of an Urban Planner. He realized that creating livable, sustainable, communities was what he wanted to do.
After spending several years in San Francisco, John relocated to Phoenix, AZ, where he received his Masters in Architecture from Arizona State University. He relocated to Austin, Texas, where he enjoyed a lot of live music, an abundance of architecture, and the itch to go it on his own. After 8 years in Austin, John moved to Kansas City and opened up Studio605. He lives in Leawood, Kansas, with his wife Suzanne, son Ian, daughter Maggie, and dog Isabel. John’s experience includes both commercial and residential, both large scale and small, and an extensive knowledge in sustainable design and building. He enjoys golf, squash, soccer, travel and good beer.
